Well Evaluation Lab – Learning, Understanding, Planning
Excelsior-Kings River Resource Conservation District (EKRCD) has been awarded $500,000 in grant funding from the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) as part of the Water Efficiency Technical Assistance (WETA) Program. The program is designed to facilitate technical assistance to agricultural operations for on-farm water and energy use efficiency and nutrient management with three primary objectives.
- Provide on-farm, one-on-one technical assistance to farmers to evaluate irrigation system efficiency and provide diagnostics, reports, and recommendations to growers.
- Coordinate or provide pump efficiency testing for farmers.
- Provide training regarding water use efficiency and nutrient management practices and technology.
EKRCD’s WELLUP Program seeks to provide farmers in its region and surrounding areas with the technical support to evaluate their farm’s water supply health and plan for drought impacts and water shortages. The WELLUP Program will provide free irrigation well testing, one-on-one technical assistance and report interpretation, irrigation water management plans, and education events to producers in the Kings, Tulare, and Fresno County’s service area and producers not covered by an RCD in those counties.
Agricultural producers can register for service during the first two weeks of each month, beginning in May. Additional resources may be available to members of the Socially Disadvantaged Farmer and Rancher (SDFR) community.
