The Excelsior Kings River Resource Conservation District (EKRCD) was awarded $500,000 from the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) as part of their Water Efficiency Technical Assistance Program (WETA).

This program is designed to facilitate technical assistance to agricultural operations for on-farm water and energy use efficiency and nutrient management with three primary objectives:

1. Provide on-farm, one-on-one technical assistance to farmers to evaluate irrigation system efficiency and provide diagnostics, reports, and recommendations to growers.

2. Coordinate or provide pump efficiency testing for farms.

3. Provide training regarding water use efficiency and nutrient management practices and technology.

EKRCD’s WELLUP program seeks to provide farmers in its region and surrounding areas with the technical support to evaluate their farm’s water supply health and plan for drought impacts and water shortages. The program will run for three years and will serve producers in portions of Fresno, Kings, and Tulare Counties. A map of EKRCD’s service area can be found here.
